Sneakers have so many different designs and color-ways that it’s somewhat difficult to mix and match a variety of outfits. Today, I’m going to make that easy for you, so matching your sneakers to your outfit wouldn’t be a problem.
1.DON’T BE SO “MATCHY-MATCHY”
You’re trying to be stylish, not team mascot. Some of the most stylish fits I’ve ever seen is when they’re kept simple and balanced. For example, if you’re shoes have a lot of color, balance it with a simple outfit and vice versa.
2.CAREFULLY MATCH YOUR ACCESSORIES
Don’t wear a luxury watch or a fine metal bracelet with casual running shoes. Everything has a time and a place. Instead, wear a beaded bracelet and an everyday watch, it will do a better job of matching the aesthetic of the outfit. This is a big reason why I love wearing RoseGold&Black when it comes to accessories.
They have a range of diverse jewelry for men, it gives you enough options when it comes to matching your sneakers to your outfit. If you’re into accessories or streetwear, this is a company you’re absolutely going to love.
They have a line of necklaces that absolutely kill it when it comes to casual or streetwear. I previously wore their grenade pendants but they recently came out with the angel wing and I’m lovin’ it! These do look like they would cost a lot of money but in reality, they’re not. However, if you do have money to spend, they do offer a gold plated option.
On top of that, they have a wide variety of fashionable bracelets like I mentioned before with their beaded collection. So when it comes to accessorizing sneakers, this is the way to go. In addition, they are all adjustable so they fit all wrists. If you guy want to check them out, I highly suggest you do and click on this “link” to get a hefty discount.
3.IT’S ALL ‘BOUT THE PANTS
If your focal point are the sneakers, you’re going to minimize the loose fabric from your pants around your ankles. It’s basically going to swallow up the shoe and defeat the purpose. Finding pants that highlight your shoe shouldn’t be a problem, most brands with a modern cut are usually tight around the ankles. Some even come with zippers to remove the most fabric as it tapers down.
If you don’t want to go out and buy new pants, that’s fine! Simply just pin-roll them and give them a temporary taper, this works just as good. Adding on, the type of pants matter too, make sure you don’t wear khakis with running shoes, match your shoes to the right type of pants.
4.USING THE RIGHT SNEAKER FOR THE OCCASION
Depending where you are, you want to match that sneaker to that occasion. There are so many designs you have a range of formality, from dressy to super casual. To make it easier for you, here’s 5 sneakers categories that I rated 1-5 (5 being the most dressy and 1 being the most casual)
- ATHLETIC TRAINERS (Flyknits, Ultraboosts)
- RETROS (Reeboks, New Balance, PowerPhase)
- SLIP-ONS (Vans, etc.)
- CLASSICS (Vans, Converse, Stan Smith)
- MINIMALIST (Common Projects)
KEEP IN MIND:
Most rules are meant to be broken, I’ve seen many people break the norm and still look stylish. However this article is a good place to start if your a beginner. If you follow these rules, you’ll never go wrong and look out of place.
Remember: Always keep it simple and balanced!
