Before I start the article, I want to let you guys know that all the shirts that are going to be shown are from our sponsor Tailor Store. What I love about this brand is that you can custom design your own shirt with only 3 measurements! So let’s begin.

1.NECK

This is one of the most important aspects of the shirt becuase it’s one you really can’t tailor.  You should only be able to fit 1 or 2 fingers inside your collar. Anything more, there’s going to a gaping hole around your neck. Secondly, you want to look at the height of the collar, you have to make sure that everything is proportionate. Overall, make sure it’s not too snug and the collar size matches your proportions.

2.SHOULDERS

This is also another key point that can’t be tailored, so you have to make sure it’s perfect. A quick and easy test to make sure the shirt fits is lean against a flat surface, the seam and your natural shoulder should hit the wall at the same time. It’s a huge factor because when it fits good, the shirt is going to give you that desired V-shape every man wants.

3.CHEST

This is another area a lot of guys go wrong with becuase they go too tight to try to enhance their muscle. Although, it should be fitted and shape your pecs there should be no pulling of any buttons. You want to have at least 1-2 inches of free space.

That’s exactly why Tailor Store is so great. Since they’re tailored shirts and not the small, medium, and large you get off the rack, these shirts actually fit your dimensions and proportions becuase they’re made for you. The best part is they don’t ask for 20+ different measurements, all you need is 3. Plug them into their website, and your done.

Once that’s done, you enter their 3D designer (my favorite part), this is where you can go crazy with customizations, it’s almost like you’re a designer. The amount of variations and options you have are endless, so go to town! You’re probably thinking “Jose, I’m not rich to buy custom made shirts!” That’s where you’re wrong, right now Tailor Store is offering a massive discount on some of their shirts with specific fabrics. Some of their shirts are just as affordable as some H&M shirts. Don’t believe me? Go ahead, click on this “link” and let me know.

4.ARMHOLE

This is an area most guys don’t notice or don’t even think about. It should be high enough so you look like you have a modern cut, but not too high where it’s uncomfortable.

5.ARM SLEEVES AND LENGTH

Here is an area where you want it to be tapered throughout your arm. However, keep in mind this is a button down and not a muscle shirt. So it shouldn’t be skin tight. Again, you want about 1-2 inches of extra fabric where you can see your muscles but it’s not too tight. As for length, unbutton the sleeves and see where the sleeve falls. If it’s between your two thumb knuckles, this is the desired fit and you’re good to go.

6.THE WAIST

To ensure that nice V-shape, you need to make sure that the waist is tapered in. I actually prefer more breathing room in the waist area, somewhere between 3-4 inches, so it ensures comfort throughout the day.

7.LENGTH OF THE SHIRT

This all depends of the type of shirt your going for.  If you want a dress shirt, you want a long cut, something that covers your butt, this always it to be nicely tucked in all day. If you’re wearing a casual shirt, you want this to be more cropped, so you can wear it untucked and make sure it ends around your crotch region.
