Is The Apple Watch Worth It?

Today, we are going to be comparing a Apple Watch vs. an automatic watch.

Let’s start off with the Apple Watch Series 3. This is the GPS and LTE version. You can pick up calls even if you don’t have your phone with you. The second watch we will be comparing it to is the Omega Speedmaster Professional, the one I have is the Moon version.

This is a big aspect when it comes to watches. If you’re going to invest hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in a watch, it should last a long time. This is where the Apple Watch falls short. It can last you a few years, but it can’t compare to a automatic watch. Apple keeps updating their models, for example, I had the Series 1 and then upgraded to the Series 3. Of course, they have some of the same features, however the Series 3 is so much better and there is no reason for me to keep the Series 1. When it comes to automatic watches, shelf-life can last a very long time. They can last decades or centuries if you take care of them. Another advantage is that it doesn’t have a battery, like a Apple Watch or even a quartz, all you have to do is wind it.

This comes down to personal preference. I love the way the Apple Watch looks, the square face and the minimal design is appealing. However, the Omega Speedmaster is a timeless piece. You can dress it up or down and it’s still going to look great. It’s a head-turner, people will always ask you questions about it. On the other hand, a lot of people have the Apple Watch, it’s more common. I love them both , but if I had to pick one to wear for the rest of my life, I would easily go with the automatic.

This is a huge factor when it comes to buying anything. There are a lot of watches out there that you can buy for under $100 that will last you a long time, maybe even longer than the Apple Watch. But what is comes down to is your budget. The Omega will run you up to $3,000 and the Apple Watch is around $300-$400. Yet again, it comes to your personal preference and what kind of watch you are looking for. However, even though the automatic is pricey, I would still pick it over the Apple Watch.

The features of these two watches are completely different. With the Apple Watch, you can get emails, text messages, pick up calls, track your footsteps and so much more. With an automatic watch, it’s more limited. There’s not a lot of features compared to a smart watch. So in this category, I believe the Apple Watch wins.
